I’m a local and have driven that road more times than I can count. You normally won’t see them through that part of the road. RV’s and campers will stop at the campgrounds, for the most part. Leisurely drive up the switchbacks to the tunnel and once you get past Checkerboard Mesa you probably will rarely see any other cars all the way to Mt. Caramel, if you are going that far.

Next time I make the drive to Salt Lake I’ll make a detour. Sweet.

You’ll be driving through my neck of the woods. SR-9 is a stone’s throw from my doorstep.

The drive will be nice if you take time to enjoy the scenery. There might be some slow traffic but for good reason. It’s gorgeous scenery. I’ve lived around it most my life and still haven’t stopped being amazed by it.

Springdale is a gem of a tourist town and is right at the entrance to Zion national park. Those two places are the reason for most traffic. Past that and you’re golden (and mostly on your own).

We’ve as you drive through! I’m in Hurricane.

That’s excellent advice thanks. I’ve driven to Utah a dozen times, never knew about this route previous.

I have! its pretty fantastic. I rode it back in December of last year and it was pretty cold out so I bet Zion will be more crowded this time of year.

9 is fun, but its a little more well know than some of the other cool roads. Where are you coming from when you come to salt lake?
